Default i flopped a pair + flush draw in a raised pot

Party $109 mtt.

level 1. effective stacks are the starting 3k. guy in EMP minraises to 80. one coldcaller, then i call in SB w/ 93[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and the BB calls.

Flop is A-T-3 two[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].

I bet 240 into 320 and the pfr minraises, folded back to me. what's my plan?

am i an idiot for not folding preflop? or for other reasons?

thanks much

Tough spot. You're in trouble vs two pair, sets or higher flush draws and 50-50 against a paired ace or ten (which raise less frequently). I think this might be a spot where I lay down a superdraw.

Oh and I fold preflop.

I'm not going to judge your preflop play. You're under on pot odds but probably ok on implied odds. Hard to tell without info on the competition, but as it's early, you don't have it.

On the flop, this early in the tournament, I'm calling and seeing a turn card about 100% of the time. I like your semi and the pfr's min-raise indicates a general belief in your semi, but general weakness otherwise.

I suspect you are behind on the flop, maybe to a pocket pair or top/second pair, but you are far from dominated. The fact that your flush Ace is on the board makes it much less likely that opponent is also drawing to hearts. He would almost surely have to have either KhQh, QhJh or KhJh which could be worth a min-raise.

You probably have 14 good outs on the turn, and should be prepared to see the river unless the turn goes bad. A 3 or a 9 on the turn would be awesome and probably allow you to extract a lot of chips.

Fold preflop like for sure. Like seriously for real for sure.

Now just push just cause you always outrun AK here if you're anything like me.

Fold preflop. Reraise allin on the flop.

PUSH, AhTh3x with 9h3h is like the best flop, because you are ahead of a flush draw unless it is like exactly KhQh, or KhJh. You are ahead of top pair, you are slightly behind AT, you are behind a set, but most likely you are ahead of AK, AQ, AJ or some whacky flush draw, since you have a pair.

Cheers!
John
PS. That is a very very very very thin preflop call.

In a lower limit tourney I would figure the PRF for aces with 2 min-raises.

I would figure he's calling a push regardless and would probably just call and try to improve on the turn.

So what is the problem if villain has aces? Push anyway.
