Default Collection Company?

I had a collection company call me today claiming I owe some company $7000 for playing poker online. I dunno what's going on. Can a company based in the US collect on a foreign company that has taken bets/etc from a company overseas? Cause I'm not going to pay, never heard of the company that they claim I owe them or anything.

Sounds like you may have some identity theft issues. I wouldn't just blow this off. Who knows what else might be out there lurking?

It's also possible it's just someone trying to defraud you, but that's worth investigating too.

Did you pay these people back?

I don't see any reason why a foreign company couldn't sell a debt for collection just because they're foreign. On the other hand gambling debts aren't enforcable in the US, so you ought to be able to prevent the collection agency from reporting. It'll probably take some work.

If they do report, is it possible to have it removed?

So you have posted in three threads. One about bouncing an ACH to a sportsbook, this thread and another about tilting away $59,000 playing online blackjack. We should believe this collection is not legit?

Pay your debts. When players scam gambling sites not only do others pay the cost through higher rake, fewer bonuses and fewer promos you also hurt everybody involved in the affiliate business, all the way down to the rakeback players.

If you can afford to tilt off $59,000 you can pay your $7000 gambling debt. It's not going to just go away.
