NL400 c/b with the nutstr8 ... embarrassing play?
yesterday i tried to take a shot a NL400 and this was one of the first hands the occured. i had no read on my opponent but i didnt notice anything unusually in the 1st orbit.
Blinds: $2/$4 4 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $304.65 Button: $330.20 SB: $369.00 hero: $385.00 Pre-flop: (4 players) hero is BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 folds, SB raises to $6, hero calls. Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($12, 2 players) SB bets $12, hero raises to $35, SB calls. Turn: 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($82, 2 players) SB checks, hero bets $77, SB calls. River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($236, 2 players) SB checks, hero checks. how bad is this check behind? the board paird (ok i never thought he had a set) and the FD came in. i dont know how people a playin on Nl400 and i didnt want to get c/r here. fwiw, he checked the river very quickly as the heart hit. if i bet here, i have about a potsize bet left. how much should i bet? 1/2 pot? Results: Final pot: $236 |

He has an overpair way more than a fd after he checks river. He wont fold it for a pot size bet in a blind battle. Just stick it in.

Re: NL400 c/b with the nutstr8 ... embarrassing play?
im pretty sure OP has 2 psb left
edit: oh, he doesnt. I still like a smaller bet than a full shove because it looks ridiculously strong |

I agree with wdead, push seems too strong and you'll scare off pairs. I probably bet 1/2-2/3 pot.

Re: NL400 c/b with the nutstr8 ... embarrassing play?
I want to raise bigger on the flop to allow myself to get more money in on the turn. It also facilitates a river shove.
Im not worried about villain having a boat, I should think a set gets more money in somewhere. Im not convinced he has a flush either. I also like 1/2 pot on river. |
