It was a 6 speed manual, and it was only in 5th gear.

FWIW, almost all 6 speeds will reach their top speed in 5th gear.

My uncle was a Texas DPS officer and he got a suped-up Mustang cop car once. Took me out in it and got it up to about 160 on the freeway. I was terrified.

I've driven about 115-120 I think in some car I drove somewhere along the way.

Not driving, I once made the mistake of asking my friend how fast his Vette goes while we were on our way out to a bar one night. A few seconds later we were going around 140. I believe those go even faster than that, but he figured I got the point at 140.

lol.

I've never taken any of my cars over 95. My mother once thought one of her friends was dying (wasn't) and apparently was flying around Spokane WA at like 120. There cant be many people who have been life outraced by their mom.

I was 19 years old and was doing about 115mph in a 4cyl 82 Toyota Cellica going down hill coming out of the mountains. I was swerving through traffic on a two lane road racing my buddy in his 98 Dodge Dakota. We were both definitely above the legal limit with open containers in the car and I consider this to be one of the dumbest things I've ever done in my life.

when i was 16, i took my mom's car (nissan something) to go pick up my friend for our basketball game. we were blasting "no sleep til brooklyn" as loud as it could go and i said to him, "wow i'm going almost 120 and it doesn't feel like i'm even speeding."

seconds later as i approached my exit i saw the flashing lights behind me and realized that i was [censored]. the cop came to my window and said, "do you know why i pulled you over?"

me, "uh, no."

cop, "i clocked you at 95, but i saw that you slowed down right after you saw me."

me, "actually this is my exit, i would have slowed down a lot more if i saw you."

there was a mandatory court date for doing 40 over (speed limit was 55 at the time on 696 outside of detroit) and i pleaded guilty with an excuse. the judge asked what my reason was and i said that i was used to driving my car which was an 84 dodge charger that topped out at 55, so i wasn't used to paying attention to my speed.

not surprisingly he said my excuse was no good and i had to pay around $150 (a small fortune to me at the time) and got 4 points. i was fortunate though that i didn't end up with a reckless driving charge or get my mom's car impounded.

to this day, every time that i hear "no sleep til brooklyn" i think of that story.
