TP decent kicker facing pressure
Playing 10-20 at Resorts in Indiana last night.
Haven't sat long, but villain is your typical loose passive station. Table has been playing VERY loose passive, with 5-6 people seeing the flop as the norm. My image is TAG, however I'm not sure how many people including villain realize how I play. 3 limpers to me in the CO, I raise with AJo, villain flat calls from button, BB calls, all the limpers call. 6 people to the flop. Flop is A 10 9 rainbow. Checked to me I bet, villain calls, everyone else folds. Turn is 4 completing the rainbow for a board of A 10 9 4. I bet, villain raises. Plan? Also plan on the river. |

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
If hes passive he almost always has you beat at this time. If he has a set your obviously dead, AT+ you got 3 outs, A9 6 outs, A4 9 outs, T9 8 outs. Getting 10-1 i call turn and donk a T,9 and 4 and fold to a raise. c/r a J, c/c an A and c/f UI. depending on how i feel of villain of course.

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
Just fold or calldown depending on how much you trust you read. I'm leaning toward fold though.

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
It seems like it should be a fold, but you are effectively getting 11:2 on a calldown, and you probably have to outs to improve on the river, so it's close if your read is shaky.
I wouldn't bet/fold the river, though - it would be a disaster if this guy raises because he is too dumb to realize that his 9T is counterfitted when the 4 pairs, and it's also worth quite a bit to see his hand here and see what he will raise the turn with. |

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
I almost always lose when this play happens live and I call down, so I've been folding much more frequently.
In this particular case, there's very few Ax that you're ahead of, and he can easily have better than that. |

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
Yeah I sometimes fold against super-passive players here.
But given the pot odds, and the chance that you can draw out against a better hand (e.g., counterfeit a two pair), if you think there is even a small probability that you already have the better hand then calling is the better play. Calling is better for the metagame too. |

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
This is been bothering me about my game also. Is AJo a hand you raise with against that many limps and the blinds getting the odds for the action?

Re: TP decent kicker facing pressure
When you have a stronger than average hand like AJ, especially suited, you would love to raise and 'win' the button, as well as getting the random junk in the SB to fold...usually the BB will come along, but one less person in the pot who has already putt in 'dead' money is +EV.
