Patrick,

Care to discuss their music in a little more depth for someone who hasn't heard them before? Genre, influences, peers, etc?

Spoon is a member of my top 3 favorite bands. Gimme Fiction > Kill the Moonlight > Girls Can Tell > A Series of Sneaks, although it should be noted that they're all good.

I'm not very good at describing music - I'll leave this to one of the other guys in this thread.

Spoon is interesting to me becuase they were on of the first indi rock bands that said hey, I like pianos. No, not like ironic sappy pianos, real ones. That are kinda funky. Funky pianos, yeah. Now everyone sweats the acoustic keys.

Their best work has this Paul Weller/Style Council bounce to it that works really well with the dudes voice/songwriting. Very catchy stuff, like something written by Carol King performed by the Undertones fooling around in Al Green's studio. I like Girls Can Tell best, but they're all buyable.

Good band.

PS: There's actually a band called the Aisler's Set that sounds like a female version of Spoon...check em out: From INSOUND

Girls Can Tell and Kill the Moonlight are two of my favorite albums i own, i like "Girls" a little better both IMO are both great.

i saw them live in Austin with The Shins years ago, there was maybe a dozen people there and the basically just did the "Telephono" album. great show though.

Very weak thread.

"I like this band. Discuss."

Not enough.

Wow, I'm constantly listening to all those artists with the exception of Arcade Fire. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Decemberists.
