Default Pinback

So while I was in San Diego last week, I rediscovered an awesome song called Penelope by Pinback when it was played on the local radio station. It's on their 2001 album, Blue Screen Life. While I was checking out their catalog online and sampling some of the other songs, I found that I also like the song Fortress from their 2004 album, Summer In Abaddon.

It's hard to really tell from 30-second clips, but Summer In Abaddon seems to be generally considered their (slightly) better album, although they both get rave reviews, five stars, etc. Are there any Pinback fans on here? Which album is better? I'm currently leaning towards Blue Screen Life because Penelope is the song I REALLY want. In the end, I'll probably end up buying both albums, but I thought I'd get some discussion on them.

I have not listened to Blue Screen Life that much, but I do like Summer In Abaddon. Some of the songs drag a bit, but there are a few gems on there. Also, don't forget to check out the 5 song EP, Offcell. It rules and includes their 10 minute long masterpiece, Gray Machine.

Yeah, I meant to mention Offcell, too. It seems like it's probably pretty good, at least as far as I can tell from 30-second samples.

This seems to be pretty consistent with the reviews I've been seeing online, too. I'll probably pick them both up.
