Default Ladies

Villain is unknown.

PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 4 folds, Hero raises, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG calls.

Flop: (7 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (5 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets, SB raises, UTG folds, Hero calls.

He could have 6x or some other pocker pair, although i'd expect him to raise with those on the flop, so im sort of worried. But you never know. Other possible hands 9x, obv. slow played Tx, 87, or just bluffing with a draw. So i call.

River: (9 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, Hero...

And that card sucks, but i think i'd cry call.

Against an unknown I call, partly because I might still be ahead, partly for read value.

I think that if you decide to call the turn, that you are pretty much committed to calling the river also.

Shame that you did not have any read on this villain.

These hands get posted all of the time. An unknown player raises you on the turn and you have an overpair. The answer is always call down unless you have a read.

what 9x hand calls the flop and c/r the turn? A9? I don't see any (except hands that already beat you on the flop or turn)

I don't think the river changes much, unless we believe a 9 to be part of the unknown's c/r range, which doesn't substantial. It's usually a T of course, but we call down from the turn to see if JJ or a FD plays this way. I think the busted FD may figure that his only way to win on the river is to bet. There is also the possibility that he has something like QJ. I will usually call.

I would never make a turn call thinking I could safely fold if he bets the river at this level. This play is becoming overused at a lot of levels I think. Most online players don't think about why they are betting or what your calls could mean.
