ESPN's Steve Phillips reported Thursday that the Royals were closing in on a four-year deal with Gil Meche worth a reported $45 million.
Why does every team have to grossly overpay for mediocre pitching? 11 Million a year for GIL MECHE??? |

While this contract may be bad for the Royals given how small their payroll is. He is getting pretty close to market value here.

this is what the royals do. They trade away young talent and sign POS that ruin their chances for the next few years. probably the worst run franchise in MLB.

Maybe. But the Cubs signing Meche to be their fifth starter and the Royals signing him to be their ace are two entirely different things.
Given his medical history and performance to date, I think this is an awful sign by KC. |

Now the Royals have no money to spend. |
