I have a better one;

Me and my 2 buds frequently go to movie theater, pay for the first show, and then watch like 3 movies total.

[/ QUOTE ]
Of course it isn't stealing...you guys paid for a total of 3 tickets. 3 tickets=3 movies. LDO.

if i owned the team though i would prob crack down on cheap pricks that do this [censored].

I think this would discourage people from going to games at all, not just from moving down. It would be interesting what this did to ticket sales.

This is very clearly stealing, but it's a very insignificant version of it.

I've done it, and I think most ball parks don't care.

Analogies seem to work best for these 'moral' dilemmas, so I'll start with this:

Suppose the ballpark has no gates. You peek inside just before the start of the game, and see a ton of empty seats. Since you weren't going to buy a ticket anyway, and the seats aren't taken, you just walk in and sit down.

Is this wrong?

People here feel the act of 'upgrading' is fair only because this is more like a service than a product, so let's try another analogy:

You currently pay $40 a month for your cell phone plan and get 500 minutes. For some reason you're at a sprint store, and the computer is logged in. Noone is around. You now have the opportunity to upgrade your plan to 1000 minutes a month for the same price. You would have had no intentions of upgrading otherwise. For sake of the argument, let's assume it costs the cell phone company nothing (or next to nothing) to give you this upgrade.

Is it moral to upgrade your plan?

In general, I think you can decide if some things are moral or not by using the following checks:
- did you look around and feel uneasy before doing it?
- if you knew you'd be caught, would you still do it?

I agree that it's not a big deal, but it is unethical.

My conscience is telling me that moving to closer seats is completely, 100% moral. I don't feel uneasy about moving to a better seat, and if I get caught, they tell me to go back to my seat. No big deal.

Why, exactly, is this thread still alive? Is it not accepted that this is clearly stealing? Just because nobody makes a big deal about it(fans do it all the time, it's a common practice. The teams don't care, or else the punishment would be a little harsher than "These aren't your seats. Move.") doesn't mean it's not stealing.

i never order pay per view tv, and never would.. but someone offers me a cable box that gets all pay per view shows for free. if i use that box, am i stealing? OF COURSE! am i costing them money? AGAIN YES simply because if they became aware of what i was doing they would want to be paid, and rightfully so. yet they are not being paid. if you don't want to watch then don't steal the programming!

U are smart. No1 else is as smart as u.

Anyway, no Mike Cuneo OP would be complete if I didn't link to my favorite thread of his, the one where his neighbor breaks his window and threatens him with a knife. Good times.

This might be the dumbest analogy I've ever heard.
