Tips for Foxwoods 4-8 limit (first-timer)?
I didn't see anything against this in the FAQ/noob guide, so.....
I'm about to make my first trip to Foxwoods, and I'll be playing 4-8 LHE, just wondering what to expect. I'm assuming the game will be extremely loose, but does anyone have any specific advice or information I should soak up before hitting the tables? |

Re: Tips for Foxwoods 4-8 limit (first-timer)?
Be really really nice, and act like a total newb as far as strategy goes, but keep the flow of the game going and don't slow it down.
This will buy you some small amount of cred with the regulars and likely get you some soft play from the nicer ones. Sit with $200 - when you get up to $500 - move up. |

Be friendly, have fun, pay attention, protect your cards, announce your action.
And a turn/river raise is the near nuts. |

TYVM for the etiquette advice, but I was more referring to the actual gameplay, such as the turn/river raise info. Any important stuff I should remember during the game? I'm expecting the game to be much looser than the 1-2 I play online (30% seeing flop), so I should obv tighten up, but what other kinds of adjustments should I make? [ QUOTE ] Sit with $200 - when you get up to $500 - move up. [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking of sitting with $400 (50 BBs) instead of $200. Also, since I've never played higher than 1-2, and only been playing limit for a month, I don't know that my nerves could handle 10-20 on my first B&M visit, although my friend does tell me that the 10-20 = just as soft as the 4-8 = just as soft as the 2-4. Thanks again for all the advice, just trying to make my first casino visit as non-nerve-wracking as possible. |

[/ QUOTE ] Most advice says to sit with 30BBs - 50 smells of overkill and you'll be picked apart. If you sit with 20-25BBs and play your standard TAG game - you can do well, PLUS you have a reload in your pocket if you get to the felt. I mean - why put $500 on once, when you can start with $250? $500 will make you look like you are trying to buy a table image, and possibly label you as an easy target. I know a couple guys that sit at $10/20 with 500 and do very very well. (If you believe their stories) |

Hm, I thought 50 BBs was standard, but I'm obviously ignorant when it comes to B&M casinoes.
Any other thoughts on the game itself? |

Re: Tips for Foxwoods 4-8 limit (first-timer)?
The 4-8 is awesome. Had a couple 8 way raised pots tonight. How's that sound?
--The 10-20 is BAD, but it's bad for 10-20. If the highest you ever play is 1-2 I wouldn't go higher than 5-10. |

[/ QUOTE ] The above advice is really silly. No one cares how much you have when you sit down. Furthermore, thinking that players at a 4-8 game will "pick you apart" if you sit down with more than 30BB makes you more of a fish than they. Cliff Notes: Don't fret about possibly overbuying into a limit game. Just buy in for whatever makes you feel comfortable. |
