Also, FWIW, I think it's really clear that moving money onto absolute now would be insane.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't STEAMROLLER (verified to be Scott Tom's account) dump chips to another account? If the person at the helm of these accounts was upper-upper management, why would they need to chip dump the money? The person would have been able to wire it out at will. It seems odd to me. The chip dumping points more toward the idea that Scott Tom's account was among the accounts being commandeered rather than the one doing the commandeering. Of course, this could have been tracks-covering.

I am just speculating and trying to present other possible explanations than AP is evil all the way.

I get the *feeling* this will be revealed in their statement. Or at least, I hope it will be.

To lay it out in black and white, from the g911 story:

[ QUOTE ]
No management personnel were involved in this incident, the company official relayed.

[/ QUOTE ]

AP, who is the owner of the POTRIPPER account? Is is AJ Green / Allan Grimard, former Director of Operations?

lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies lies

Nothing has changed here.

Maybe after a good amount of time and a major software change, I could see someone throwing a little into AP to test the water again. Not to the extent the high rollers put money in, though. I would be leary about building a BR from scratch and leaving it there as well.

Maybe there is more to see here than meets the eye but I don't think we yet have irrefutable proof that Scott Tom himself perpetrated this. Someone who knows more about computers than me can answer this; is it possible that someone is using the identities (fake IP's, account hacks, etc) of AP exec's in order to cover their tracks?

I get that feeling, too, but not from the evidence. The cheater's obvious lack of poker knowledge resulting in a complete inability to be subtle about the cheating leads me to believe it was someone who does not understand poker very well. From what I gather about the Toms, they have played a few hands in their day.

Also, if I am the cheater, I am going to commandeer accounts that will result in false leads and resulting cover-ups as much as possible. Gives me more time to get away.

Just to add to Nat's *feeling*, an admin with deep access would be able to log on as any account he wants. He can just change the email address and password in the database and use the account at will.

I don't believe it was lack of poker knowledge as much as it was knowledge of how to stay under the radar. He had enough poker knowledge to know when it was safe to overbet when someone else had the best hand like a small pair and get them to fold. That's just one example.

If a hacker or rogue employee gained access to AP's systems, why would they commandeer accounts owned by AP bigwigs? Wouldn't this virtually guarantee them getting noticed?

If AP comes out with a story like that without presenting any evidence, they can go to hell.

I'm wondering if the mentions of upper management not being involved are somewhat purposely placed in the gambling911 article to gauge the public response before releasing their actual statement.

It also seems like the AP insiders would be able to confirm or deny the truth behind whether it was actually managment committing the fraud, no?
