Default Increased rake at Garden City

I stopped in on my montly trip out to the Bay Area last night. The drop in the $4/$8 Stud Hi/Lo game at Garden City (in San Jose) went from $4 to $5 for 7-8 players as of January 1st.

I'm a bit peeved about this because the drop is collected on 3rd street, so they're taking out more than half the money in the pot at a full table. $1 antes + $1 bringin:

8 players = $4 in pot, $5 drop
7 players = $3 in pot, $5 drop
6 players = $4 in pot, $3 drop
5 players = $5 in pot, $1 drop

For the first time since I started playing there, both tables broke before I was ready to leave. (About 1:15am.) Coincidence, or the result of an extra $20-$30/hour disappearing down the chute?

Fortunately I don't mind at all playing 6 handed or less... but I'm just annoyed at playing poker in a state where they're not allowed to take a real rake.

P.S. The notice said that the drop changed for Razz, too. Has Razz ever been spread in the last 5 years at GC?

I have never seen Razz played at GC (30+ years).

As far as the rake on Stud, you get more hands/hr in Holdem and GC wants to make as much money as they can. So I guess it was either up the rake or not spread Stud.

If I'm not mistaken the 20/40 LHE rake is $5 now as well. As soon as Bay 101 went to $5, Garden City followed suit. It seems like it wasn't more than two years ago when they were collecting $3.

And no, I've never seen Razz spread there.

Do you remember when Bay 101 went to $5? I've only played 20/40 once or twice and I seem to recall it being $4 then.

I hate the rake bumps at GC!

I noticed a sign for Razz when I went there last week, anyone play it yet?

Last couple times I went to Bay 101, they didn't spread a stud game. I'm not a regular there, so maybe that's old news.
