I would check the flop or bet out 1/2 pot. If hero checks he should check call as there are no real flush draws or straight redraws on this flop. Check call and check raise almost any turn. Preflop i would look to 3 bet this hand from blinds sometimes.

I would prefer to 3bet preflop OOP if the wrap was a bit higher, say T987 or JT98.

Why does jt98 differ much from 9876 for you? If anything your opponents are less likely to hold cards from 9876 than from jt98 as people will play jjxx and kqt9 much more than kqt6 or kqt7.

I see your point, but I think it is a bit more complicated than that.

First, at 25PLO who knows what opponents are holding.

Second, in order to take a lot of chips from an opponent, he needs to have a decent, but second best hand. If a calling station is holding TTXX and the flop comes out T87, I may stack them with JT98 but I might fold a 9876 hand if there is serious postflop action.

Either way, JT98 and 9876 are both great PLO hands and perhaps I should be lumping them together instead of thinking of them as different.

700th post!!!!

A good way to look at this hand is "What's going to give me action?"

The answer is the same straight, or a set. So this argues in favour of checking.

Another good question is "What cards could come on the turn that would really me regret checking the flop?"

The answer is anything from a six to a ten. So this would argue for betting.

Because there's no higher straight draw and no flush draw out, this is one of the rare times where checking is ok.

But with 5 players, potting is standard. Get calls from donques with 77 or whatever.

Don't you mean 'bonques'?

So you would tend to check with less people, say 3way (not 5way)? Would you go for a check raise on the flop?

If it was 3 way or less preflop raiser might follow through on the flop, making c/r much easier. In ribbo's video he showed the value of 1/2 potting the flop. 1/2 pot on this flop may give someone the idea that you have ttp or set that they may be able to raise you off of.

Their range will be wider, but they still have a range. If anything your opponents at this level will overvalue high card strength.

Yes, 3 people you are 1) less worried about giving a free card, 2) more likely to be able to c/r.

I think the 1/2 pot idea is very interesting. If you frequently bet other than pot, this would be a good spot for it. (I only bet less than pot on the river, so probably wouldn't apply for me)

(This is me, Apeattack)
I frequently bet less than full pot (with good and marginal hands) because I find that most players will fold to 1/2 - 3/4 pot almost the same amount of time they fold to full pot (I think Ribbo talks about this in his video)... why risk more chips than are necessary to get the same effect?

After considering further, I think here that I agree with my original line of just betting out pot and shoving to any re-raise.
