Default 5/10 plo weird spot

I'm SB with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

UTG ($500) minraises to 20
Button (900) calls
I pot it to 90 ( I cover), BB (400) calls, others call.

Flop is K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I check (?), BB checks, UTG bets 40 into 350 (wtf), button calls.

I... call (?), BB calls.

Turn comes J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

BB bets out 80 into 500, UTG disconnects and gets folded, Button pushes AI for 750-ish.

I fold.

This weird betting wasn't standard for this game from what I've seen so far and I don't have any good reads yet as I sat maybe 5 mins ago.

I personally wouldn't raise this hand for preflop value out of the SB. If you continue-bet a flop that makes your hand, I think that you turn you cards face up a lot of the time. If you are going to come in for a raise though, I think that you should be comfortable enough to put out a healthy bet on this flop too....

I don't mind the preflop raise.

Post flop I just call the tiny flop bet and fold that turn.

I would like the preflop play more if there were some 200bb+ stacks involved in this hand. You are hoping to hit some kind of disguised boat or straight and get paid, basically do it when you think you have good implied odds.

I can't see any other reasonable way to play the flop than checking, and then calling the baby bet.

Fold the turn, if he has one of your flush draws you are in bad shape.

I think you played it fine and the preflop raise is OK.

totally disagree with this. Part of the reason you should raise here at least some of the time is that your hand looks nothing like what it is when you hit the flop.

Unless you play super-agrro, even a moderately solid player can generally figure out you weren't raising high suited pockets, etc when you're betting out at a 2,3,4 flop.. If it's just a HU pot, then yes, I of course pop it out of the small blind with that hand. Given that it's 4-way action in this hand though, I just don't think that a continue-bet on a good flop for 3,4,5,6 out of the SB is very well-disguised.
