Default Foxwoods or Showboat?

Going to casino this week but have never played no limit holdem b4. Want to play 1-2 no limit. Would you guys suggest foxwoods or showboat? I heard there are a lot of terrible players at showboat. Any other suggestions woudl be great. I would prefer AC or Connectiucut b/c i live on the East Coast. Thanks.

Dyna,

I don't know about Foxwoods, I've never been there.

Regarding the Showboat, the 1-2 games do have bad players, but don't put too much stock in the differences people talk about going from house to house in AC. I've played or dealt in every room in the city a number of times, all kinds of games, and on any given day you never know what kind of table you get.

On the other hand, you might feel more comfortable in a smaller room like Showboat. The Trop, Hilton, and Harrah's all fit this descripton somewhat.

PS - If you plan on using the bathroom, forget Trop

I like AC myself, if the poker room your at is real busy or you feel like a change of scenery it is all very easy. Showboat is one of the smaller rooms in AC, and it is out of the way from the main gambling floor. Caesars room is modest in size but right near the action which draws in some gamblers. Borgata and Taj Mahal have the biggest room with the most action. Borgata is the nicest casino by far, though it is off the boardwalk. Of the boardwalk casinos I prefer Caesars. Never played at Trop, so I wont give an opinion.

Warning Live play is very very different than online.

Average raises are a lot more, usually $10-$12. Players are generally over-over aggressive, tight-weak, esp on later streets. There are calling stations EVERYWHERE at 1/2 - some are really really bad.

There isn't much three-betting pf, and some players limp almost every hand. People act nitty and act out of turn all over the place, and whine to the dealer about bad cards constantly. White chips are $1, red are $5, green are $25 and black are $100.

Dealers and cocktail waitresses primarily work for tips, although whether that matters to you is your business. Make sure you "see" a better hand before folding yours, don't take anyone's word for what they have until you see it. If your on a blind and the other blind sdks you to chop, he means that both blinds will just take back their blinds and not play the hand (and you can't go and peek at your cards to see if you like them before you decide).

Borgata is the nicest room, I'd start there if you're just going to play for a while and leave.

If you want the best 1-2 game id say go to borgata. They usually have about 6-8 1/2 games going on a weekend. And after 9 oclock or garunteed to have 1 or 2 drunk idiots at ur table dying to give money away. If uve never played live ur gonna be in for a treat. It is a CRAZY!!!! loose game, with tons of action. Ive played in that game thousands of times, only advice i can give is just dont get fancy. Play abc poker. and for he first hour play very conservative, im sure u can spot the fish in the first hour
