I don't think you are being a jerk here OP, and I wouldn't give up the fight on principle.
Email them with links to this forum post (and the one at CM if there is one) and point out that their stubborness and unfairness is costing them more than $25+$12.50 in bad PR. I'd also take my MGR elsewhere if I were you.
