Default How often should I reraise the river with a monster, but not the nuts?

BB is a 46/7/1.5 He is not a good player, but not a terrible one either.

It depends. Why would you put in a 8th bet but not a 9th? And why a 9th but not a 10th? There will be a point where you have to keep raising, so you need to decide this well, indeed. I'd find this a tough spot too, I might keep raising very far, as he has either JJ, J5, 65, 55, Q5, and only one of those beats us.

i would keep reraising until he quits. it's not like he ever has 55 here.

he can def have 55, you should stop at some point unless it looks like he could just be stacking off/tilting. If he;s got a lot of BBs left, you need stop about now. Not that it really matters in the long run, since these spots are so rare.

"it's not like he ever has 55 here."

fits pretty well imo.

preflop: pair i call
flop: quads i slowplay
turn: quads i slowplay
river: i better bet so he doesn't check.
river: i better reraise with the nuts.
river: i better reraise with the nuts.
river: i better reraise with the nuts.

OP, i'd probably just call now, but i think you might go one more bet. at this many raises it's really either JJ or 55 (JJ being mass spew), but that's still 3:1.

you should either go all in or you put in too much action already, problem is you dont know which.

the thing is: if he was tilting why did he just meekly c/c the flop and the turn and not go ballistic? when he 5-bets you he's pretty serious imo. he very rarely has JJ because of his passive play up to this point. J5 and Q5 have to be significantly discounted compared to 55 because you have two queens, because he must realize they are far from the nuts (especially J5), and because he's likely to put more action on earlier streets with them than with 55.

bottom line: once he 5-bets, i don't think you are a 67% favorite. i'm not even sure you are a favorite at all. i think 6-bet is likely a spew.
