NL25 88 top set, best way to extract?
Obviously this is a monster hand; top set in a raised pot on the button. How would you extract the most here given these reads?
SB: Semi-tight, passive big stack that has diminished. Plays ragged Aces and speculative hands like Q-J from early position UTG: A decent TAG. Not as aggressive as MP2. MP2: A very good TAG. Raises every pot he enters (not many) and cbets aggressively, has not shown down any hands. Poker Stars, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 8 Players LegoPoker Hand History Converter SB: $25.35 BB: $6 UTG: $25 UTG+1: $22.70 MP1: $6.95 MP2: $28.65 CO: $15 Hero (BTN): $23.95 CO posts $0.25 Pre-Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BTN) UTG calls $0.25, 2 folds, <font color="red">MP2 raises to $1.25</font>, CO folds, Hero calls $1.25, SB calls $1.15, BB folds, UTG calls $1 Flop: ($5.50) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 Players) SB checks, <font color="red">UTG bets $3</font>, <font color="red">MP2 raises to $7.25</font>, Hero?? |

call. Raising is way to strong and there aren't any draw to rep.

Board is super dry. You are in position. The pot is already big enough that it will be easy to get all-in on the river. Call.

You have basically the immortal nuts against two aggro TAGs. Set the tarp and get it in.

I guess I don't see where we have to extract. Isn't this getting in 100% of the time no matter what you do?

Re: NL25 88 top set, best way to extract?
UTG open limps, I would label him as positionally unaware unless he was trying to trap with a monster? I would re-evaluate your view of UTG.
Flop is obviously a call. There are no draws and you have good position. Putting a raise here screams strength. However, if I am MP2 I'd be really worried when you call that flop and would definitely shutdown unless I improve to the nuts. |

I feel that if I call here I may get UTG to call one bet, but they will probably fold to shove on turn or river. The best outcome here though is I end up stacking both UTG and MP2. But MP2 is a smart enough TAG that he knows something fishy is going on. I want to shove which I feel is the best line to feint weakness but I will lose tremendous value if villains fold. |

Re: NL25 88 top set, best way to extract?
Unless MP2 just got coolered he's done with the hand, whether you raise or call: If he's smart he's not stacking off with AA here. I do feel you have a better chance at maybe getting the money in if you just call, though. Besides, raising eliminates any chance of UTG overcalling unless he was going broke anyways.

Re: NL25 88 top set, best way to extract?
I still feel that calling > shoving if you want to extract. UTG/MP2 may put you on some overpair 99/TT maybe JJ. If either of them has QQ+, you can still get value out of them if they shutdown and go into check/calling mode when you show strength by betting the turn or river.
