Re: Hey, I found it!

This one of my favorites, the clip is just round 9 but the whole fight is definitely worth watching. Ward vs Gatti 1 (Rocky style) [/ QUOTE ] They didn't say who won! Great fight. Really picks up near end of 3rd through the 5th. Then again in the 8th. b |

They had to more fights after this with Gatti winning both. |

Re: Hey, I found it!
I heard Emmanuel Stewart (Hearn's trainer) interviewed saying that the masseuse massaged Hearn's legs too much before the fight causing the muscles to lose tension or something and they decided to abandon their go the distance fight plan and instead go for broke in the first few rounds.
I heard Tommy Hearns in an interview say he had overtrained for the fight and he knew his legs weren't going to make it so he decided his only option left was to go for broke early. Marvin was surprised by they attack and stunned early, but adjusted and fought back to eventually knock out Hearns. My dad said at the time he say the fight simulcast, everyone in the theatre was mumbling how they thought Tommy was on a boatload of coke because of the look in his eyes, his erratic movements, and his go for broke strategy. Cocaine is a helluva drug. -J p.s. Here are some of my lesser known picks if you like action: Foreman vs. Lyle, 1976. Shavers vs Lyle, Norton vs Quarry + all the well known stuff (Ali vs Frazier, etc.) |

Watch the tape again........You'll see it. The Norton/Quarry fight was a first-class slugfest/bloodbath. |

Foreman/Lyle was a sick slugfest. Take a look from round 4 on (10:46-end). Link [/ QUOTE ] Some bombs thrown in that one. The referee is absolutely terrible. It should've easily been stopped before the final KO. b |

In round 5 when Lyle fell into the ropes, the ref should have called it a technical knockdown since the ropes prevented him from actually falling down. Then, he should have given Lyle a standing 8 count. Instead, he let the fight continue and Lyle got completely mauled in the corner. |

Re: Hey, I found it!
Biggest beat-down ever in one round I've seen is Dempsey vs Willard.
First round Dempsey nearly takes his head off. |

Re: Hey, I found it!
My Dad had the Hagler-Hearns fight on tape and would break it out every once in a while, this brings back memories.
Castillo-Corrales 1 in 2005 was a ridiculous fight as well, some highlights here. Too bad it had a slightly controversial ending. |
