Calling all newbs and veterans... good multiway situation or fold?

I'd like people to weigh in on this play and tell me if they think it is way too loose a call PF or if it is a good situation to call. Please be specific as to why you think the way you do.

Fold. There are basically 2 reasons to play A5s:

-You are in a situation where you might win with one pair or UI (like a steal)
-You are getting sufficent implied odds to play for a straight or flush with maybe 1 pair as a backup

For 3bets your ace is almost never good, and 2.5 bets is too much to pay to get implied odds on your flush wheel draw (and you might pay more than that), so fold.

Yeah, Xhad summed this up pretty well. A5s might be alright against just a raise, but when it's a raise and a reraise back to you, you're not going to profit off of it. After CO 3-bets, you can't rely on making top pair any more and can only rely on your flush and straight draws to hope and hit the flop in some way.

Ummmm, yeah. So, Nick. You're posting lots (but not too much, which is also good), and I admire your determination. However, if you are actually thinking about calling this even after all the work you've put in so far, it's quite probable that your misunderstanding of the way poker works is so fundamental that you should seriously consider taking up a new hobby.

Wow, that's pretty lame.. thanks for the "encouragement," but I was merely posting this for anyone who had an option besides pros(who seem to have opted in before anyone else who doesn't have a clue).

Maybe you should think about not bashing on people who have questions. Alright then...

I am a new one to poker too, started in April, and at this stage when it comes to pre-flop play I just use either one of 2 starting hand charts in SSHE, and try to concentrate on learning how to apply various concepts into my post-flop play. Works fine for me.

I have read 2+2 forums for a few weeks now and only ONCE or TWICE have I seen a recommendation from anyone advising that deviates from those charts. So to me it looks that those starting hand charts are good even for more experienced and better players. Try not to worry about which hands you start with, develop a solid pre-flop default play, and concentrate on your post-flop play.
