Re: 6/12 live, huge pot, this is what I did with my set.
Preflop, fine TT+/AK/AQs maybe some others it seems alright to go batnit crazy.
BB didn't cap the flop. KJ / AA / QQ is still possible but his range hasn't been narrowed to exactly those (preflop is weird?!) this could just as easily be AQ /AK / QT / pair + gutshot etc.. But you have all these other players in there calling the massive amount of bets, so there is an "overlay" of moneys from the callers offsetting the occasions when BB actually is ahead. So I'd put in one raise on the turn (the field is probably calling anyway but no matter). And call the river, go for overcalls from weak one- and two- pair hands. Anyway, good you didn't fold. |

Re: 6/12 live, huge pot, this is what I did with my set.
reminder to anyone who thinks they are protecting their hand by raising the turn - you will make the pot 28:2, which is 16:1 - anyone who doesn't call is nuts because mathematically its the correct thing to do. But when the pot is large players get scared that they are making a huge commitment only to be dominated by a bigger hand - take advantage of their psychological mistake, thats why your raising here - you cant protect your hand mathematically but you can induce an error - and every call shows a profit in the long run.

[/ QUOTE ] good point. sure, any straight draw is correct to call if you raise but a)that doesn't mean they will and b)it is less profitable for them if you pop it. less profitable for them means more money for you. |

Someone once said if you do not lose a ton of chips with a set you did not play it right - I raise the Turn and take my lumps. (flop 6 players then I would 4-bet as you did).

Thanks everyone for the comments. I guess I have a long way to go as I posted this thinking that I might have put in too much money rather than too little, which is what your consensus is.
Villain showed KcJc. His hand was good. |
