Default Live 5/5 game, semi deep.

1K max buy in 5/5 game live. Couple players making it an action game. Effective stacks for the hand is $2200

I'm on button with 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

straddle to ten, raise to 25, 3 calls to me, I call, SB calls and BB makes it 160 straight. All fold to me, I call and SB folds (which I didn't think he would, like...ever).

Flop is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

BB is solid, capable of moves and laydowns. He's not likely to reraise with anything other than JJ, QQ, KK, AA, AKs in this spot because he definitely expects callers as in this game it rarely goes less than 4 to the flop.

BB bets $250

Hero ????

Hmm... u kinda overcalled preflop. I guess with ur stack ur implied odds were good tho. He bet 250... looks like he has pretty big hand (AK or AA, maybe even KK cuz its slightly weakish). I think flatcall here is best, especialy since u have position with good stacks. If you raise, b/c his bet looks like he's rele strong and will shove in if raised (~1/2 pot), or smoothcall and trap the hell outta u, esp if u miss.

against described villain i'm raising this up for sure - unless i've been caught out of line a lot.

dude will not get 200 BB in w one pair and 55/66 makes sense for you. if he calls then he has KK like 85% of the time, so take the freebie unless you hit.

If a raise is proper, what size is optimal? If I raise and am pooooshed upon, calling seems horrible, no?

With stacks so deep, I don't see anything wrong with your pre-flop call.

I am about 20/80 on calling/raising. Given that I think I would raise about $350 to $400 more. I am inclined to think that a bigger bet is better here though?

You don't like the guy's advice, so you decide that it's not worthy and then you give a ridiculous reason for having done so? This is silly, listen to what the man has to say, and discuss intelligently.

Folding preflop is a viable option, you're the first caller into a pot where a solid player has hammered it into several others. I'm not saying you can't call, but folding is a fine line.

On the flop, see another card. Your implied is pretty good here, if you destroy the turn it will be an innocuous card and thus not slow down your opponent.
