Default OOT Iron Chef MINOR LEAGUE EDITION CONTEST #1

OK, if you wish that you could participate in the OOT Iron Chef, but are just completely outclassed by everyone there, this is the thread for you!

I made this thread because I was inspired by the competition to cook something good tonight, but I have neither the skill nor patience to cook the sophisticated stuff they do.

I figured there must be others like me who have been inspired to do some cooking by that contest!

What's the deal, we pick an ingredient and have to make an appetizer and entre using it?

If the ingredient is something pretty mainstream (I see they used bacon in one of the other ones) I'd be interested. I assume since this is the minors we won't be doing anything too crazy like on the TV show.

Beef Tenderloin w/ medley of roasted baby potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, brussel sprouts, and red bell peppers.

Vegetables:

Quarter a few baby potatoes, cut up a red bell pepper into bite size pieces, add a few brussel sprouts and some pre-cut butternut squash pieces and sweet potato strips. Drizzle w/ tbsp of olive oil and toss w/ salt and pepper. Put in 400 degree oven for 40 minutes.

Steak:

Season steak w/ salt, pepper, garlic. Put on G5 Foreman Grill, high setting for 4 minutes (medium/medium rare, adjust to taste).

Put it all on a plate and enjoy with some nice red wine!

I like this idea. I think I'll have a hard enough time making one thing that isn't pasta or toast.

That looks awesome. Sweet potatoes are awesome--much healthier and tastier than regular potatoes.

Awesome, I'll play. I've been trying to cook more lately anyway, so maybe this will help keep me motivated.
