I've never even been to Vegas Stern, but that is great info and great advice. (Future) tourist like me are under the impression that the strip is one of the safest places on the planet.

I wrote about this before, I think. I was coming out of Bellagio around 6:30 in the morning when a guy was running down LV Blvd with a cop right behind him. The light changed and I turned north. Suddenly, said accused ran from the bushes in front of my bus.

GF: "Did you hit him?"
Me: "No. Those busses have no pickup at all."

vegas is perfectly safe...ive ventured on the strip at 2-3am countless times with no problems. Even picked up a new CD from an aspiring rap artist for only 1 dollar.

Cheers

I will note two thing......#1.) I would avoid trouble on the strip, even if it means backing down and running away. This is because you will not get police response. Police presence on the strip on weekends is minimal at best. Anyway, how would they get through the traffic?

Not disputing your advice, but it seems like there are more cops on the strip on weekends. I've seen them on mountain bikes and horses, so they can get through the traffic.

Vegas allows concealed weapon carry with permit. Does anyone know how the casinos feel about it?

That's not even close to true. You can walk down Flamingo road for miles and not be bothered.

I've felt safer in Vegas than most any place I've ever been, at times when I probably shouldn't have. Stories of crime here are way overblown, if not downright untrue.

I've caught the bus at Charleston and Main/LVBlvd many times at all hours of the night. That isn't a place that one should be, yet never had any problems whatsoever.

Vegas is as safe as you can get these days.

QFT. I have been to Vegas many times and have yet to feel unsafe, even walking down the Strip at three in the morning with a couple grand in my pocket.

You know, and so do a bunch of other people. I'm pretty sure that robbery and muggings are not exactly a major concern on the mid and south strip areas. But to bury your head in the sand and say that it is "safe" is silly. Lots of sh--t goes on out there.

And to the guy saying police presence is heavy on the strip on weekends.....I visit once a month and most often stay mid strip and walk to Mirage and Bellagio. I have yet to see metro out there after 1am or so on a Friday or Saturday night. That involves probably 100 trips over the past 10 years.
