Re: September Low-Content Thread
Killing time in the 8/16 game waiting for my game when a beautiful hand comes up. I raise the Ace and King utg and get 5 coldcallers.
Flop: KT8 2 hearts. I bet 4 calls. turn:8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I bet: 3 callers. river:8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I bet, call and an overcall. Obv, I hate the river card, preparing to chop, but they both muck. Lol, I miss that game sometimes. |

Re: September Low-Content Thread
I've been playing at Garden City lately because the 40 game there is just too good to pass up. Today I finally manage to get back to Bay 101 and I'm worried that the game's going to be tough, at least relative to GC.
Unknown limps UTG, I raise A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG+1, BB calls, UTG calls. Flop A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I'm a fan. I bet, BB folds, UTG calls. Turn A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Still a fan. Check, bet, call. River T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] That sucks, this joker with A-rag sucked out on me. Check, bet, UTG folds Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] face up. Uh, cancel that last thought about getting sucked out on. First thought - I run good. Good thing this guy is bad and didn't make me shovel chips in while way behind. Second thought - I run bad. Where's the rest of my pot? (By no means is this a recommendation to play 40 at Bay 101. Garden City is still a much better game). |

[ QUOTE ] The rake effect is too big to overcome and not worth the variance assuming your neighbors aren't anything special. [/ QUOTE ] In 20/40, perhaps. In 40/80+, ya think? Average heads-up pot is $250+, you don't think you can extract a 2% edge from average opponents? |

Re: September Low-Content Thread
I would still chop if i played 20/40. In 40/80 i would be -EV then because i suck or its just not profitable?
Beat or Brag? I mentioned in class that i play a bit of poker and it has helped me pay for school, and other things etc. Today someone came up to me and asked me if i wanted to do an "interview about gambling?" Eh poker is different from gambling. Whatever. Anyway should i lend them some knowledge or pass? The article will go in the school newspaper, which my school is 30k+. |

[ QUOTE ] arizona [/ QUOTE ] More accurately, Tucson. Maybe it was DeathDonkey's brother. [/ QUOTE ] In case this difficult mystery wasn't solved it was me Just got back from the aforementioned Crazy Mike game, HOWMANY is still there playing 3 handed with Roc and another guy (17 hours or so) I played for 16. Crazy Mike left at like 5 AM up 10k or so and everyone else was stuck so obviously the game went all morning and afternoon. I wound up winning 4k while everyone was delirious. I used to hate omaha/8 but now I've decided I love the game, everyone plays it terribly and the variance is low and my edge is huge. Imagine a 4-6 handed 75/150 game where 3 of the players never fold preflop for any number of bets and omaha/8 suddenly seems like the ideal game to play with them. Hands later I'm sure, first sleep. -DeathDonkey |

Re: September Low-Content Thread
Yeah Omaha 8 is a fantastic game. Now you see why I played 15 hours of Crazy Pineapple 8 HU on the first day I have ever played it. Even 4-6 handed I felt I could just basically sit and wait for solid hands in the 8 or better games because of the hemorrhaging of money by everyone else that occurred when I did get involved with a hand. Obviously this might not be the case playing against good players but that obviously wasn't really the situation.
Just got home from this game, I somehow managed to win 5500 |
