Re: Style opinion and social commentary on clothing
[ QUOTE ]
I think silkscreening is usually not too good, and I think it's going to go out of style pretty soon. [/ QUOTE ] KC - you mean "graphic heavy" T-shirts? I'm not sure if they're going out of style, but they are definitely not my preference. The majority of these, imo, are not particularly good designs or graphics - they remind me of overly designed concert T-shirts kids wore in high school. The overall look of wearing them strikes me as pretty cheesy and to me, is not an indicator of taste, though the look is youthful I guess. -Al |

Re: Style opinion and social commentary on clothing
[ QUOTE ]
I actually really liked the designs a lot, but am not into the text/slogans. Actually, the first one I might like if the design were on the front. The third one I really like the design and layout, I just hate the text. I tried to buy them, but couldn't get myself to pull the trigger. [/ QUOTE ] I think wearing clothes without slogans is probably a pretty good rule of thumb. -Al |

Re: Style opinion and social commentary on clothing
Yeah.. that's what I mean. I just used silkscreening as a blanket phrase for this current trend (even if they aren't all silkscreened). It's not just T-shirts.. you see it on polos now, and on hoodies like crazy.

I suppose distinctive graphics on a T-shirt could be a form of social "peacocking" and help with the womenz, but these graphic-heavy things are so ubiqutious in LA it just makes you look like another run-of-the-mill mid-20s hipster. -Al |

[/ QUOTE ] Im fairly damn good at picking out what is stupid and what isnt in regards to clothes, and it just seems these things will go the way of the Von dutch hats (even though Kenny Howard rules). Basically a good barometer if something is lame or not, is to check out the prostitots at the mall, or the movies, if they are wearing it, it is officially lame. |

Re: Style opinion and social commentary on clothing
Al,
Yes, my experience so far has been chicks really dig these shirts, the gayer the better. I'm starting to think the best way to get laid by hot chicks might be to walk around with a dick in my mouth. |
