Find chick who knows style. Hand her your credit card, tell her you need a new wardrobe. 2 -3 pairs of slacks, 6-8 shirts, a few sweaters, some casual wear, etc... I've done this a few times, it works.

That's horrible advice. All your friends will abandon you and people on the streets will point at you and laugh.

What the hell? The idea sounds awesome.

AZK,

Checked out some James Perse stuff. Yeah, he has some good simple-looking stuff that is right up my alley. I liked this a lot, but it's pretty steep at $143.

LD,

Normally, I'm not one to say something like "you paid too much for that" or whatever, I'm not big on second-guessing someone else's sense of style, personal subjective valuation, etc. But seriously, I just bought that shirt at target for like $14.

Disclaimer: My wardrobe is basically standard-issue whitey Gap RiotNrrd stuff.

Typical ensemble:

You might have bought something that looked like it, but the more expensive shirt will likely last a while and be more comfortable.

You also may not care, but people who do will often be able to tell the difference between your shirt and the more expensive one. What this says about them or you is up to your own intrepretation of course.

It's pretty comfy. Surprisingly, it is not full of thorns and razor blades. And if the other shirt will last 10x as long, well, I'd be surprised.

All,

Locking this thread, nothing new or interesting in a while. See nation's track suit and hoodie thread for continued discussion of style issues.

I'll start a thread on my upcoming clothing company this week.
