Default mouse + vista do not get along

I use a logitech mx518 and when I'm using vista it will work for a few minutes then it won't. The light will turn off and if I plug it into another USB port it doesn't work.

When I use linux it works fine for as long as I want and it worked fine on XP.

I've reinstalled the drivers and vista says they are up to date. What else should I try?

It would seem that your options at this point are to get rid of Vista or get rid of your mouse. It seems that they don't want to play nicely together.
