You also dont have to tip at hotel restaurants and other places where they add 15 % "for your convenience" but people do anyway...If a person does a good job would it really kill you to throw a few bucks more? I mean cmon...I know that not tipping makes a statement against the rake or whatever but you cash for $6753834760948394534 would it really hurt u that much to throw the dealers some more money, consdeirng the abuse they put up with? I was unprepared and didn't know if any had been taken out, so I left a tip. I'm still not sure whether or not they took some out beforehand last year, but was more prepared this time. The procedure was identical this year... paid in chips, then a mention that if I'd like to leave any for the staff, he would make sure to distribute it properly. My reply this year was to make certain that 3% had been withheld for service, and that I felt this fee was appropriate.
