Default A spot that always gives me trouble

Villain is 40/16 and plays a fair amount, I'd consider him a regular (obv terrible though). He is pretty laggy and usually aggressive in general, but my general impression is that he plays passively against me. I got my stack earlier when I raised on the button with A2s, he called in the SB and a tag squeezed in the BB. I shoved and sucked out on the tag's JJ.

The turn check is standard for me. I hate to bet and get raised, and I can safely c/c with the overpair + redraw and re-evaluate on the river. Plus I'm usually WA/SB in this spot. The river is a very confusing spot though, and I can't decide if c/c or b/f is better (of course depending on certain variables occasionally c/f or b/c). For those of you in the bet camp, how much and what is your reason for betting as opposed to checking?

It would've been MUCH Better to bet that $72 on the turn and fold to any reraise.. at least then you know much clearer what to do.

i like betting this river as played using the diamonds to get a cheap show down, you probably wont get raised unless he has a huge hand and ifhes passive he might look u up light

I think I like b/f over check call. You said he's been kinda passive against you so I really doubt he fires off a bluff or value bets anything that you beat. It is likely he's got a J though or even a mid pp with a diamond that could pay off. I'd bet around 100-120. FWIW I like the turn check too.

i dont like check calling as there is almost no hand he can bet and you call that you beat.

his 2 most likely hands are Jx (which i assume he would not bet) and Ax w/ diamond.

so either b/f $166 or check fold. bet fold only if he will call you with Jx here or worse diamond (most likely he would give your description?)

i like c/cing because it picks off bluffs and it balance river checking range.
