omw to Vegas ...arrive Wed. Some reason on Thursday room rates go thru the roof till Sunday...wtf I thought it slow season there. Must be some serious convention?

SEMA, one of the biggest conventions of the year. Traffic will suck, and the strip joints raise their prices.

There is no "slow" season anymore. For poker there is, for casinos there is not. They put it into people's heads that it's "slow" this time of year so come on out and get a "deal" because there won't be anyone here, when in reality it's pretty freggin busy.

I was there the week of October 15th and I thought it was very very slow, all the cabbies were complaining too. I go about 3-4 times a year and I never saw vegas like that. Going back next week, hopefully it'll be better.
