My table-first post
Seen others online talk about their tables. Thought I might as well post pics of mine as well (Junell design of Home Poker tourney). Made it to seat 9 on 4 X 7 (cut off a foot). Really comfortable.
First post here (sort of 'jumping ship' from fullcontact). Hate first posts, but thought this is as good as any. Been lurking for about 3 months and have appreciated all the comments (especially about Tunica). E Edit(can't figure out the photo thing) http://www.anderkampmusic.com/pokertable/table.html |

Re: My table-first post
wow...gorgeous, you have any plans written up for it? How about a product list and where you got everything? I'd really appreciate it if you could post that stuff, thanks

Re: My table-first post
Nice -- it is a table top, or did you build on a folding table?

I think you guys are just being nice with me coming from "another" forum. Lol..
I appreciate the kind words. It's based on Mark Junell's Poker Table plans (all credit to him).. http://www.junell.cc/pokertable/ He has MASSIVELY detailed instructions. I just didn't understand the racetrack/rail/center thing. I bought foam core and made a 1 foot replica to scale so I could understand how the pieces fit together. It probably takes 10-12 hours once you get going with the right tools. Specs: Whisper Vinyl 3/4 " oak from Home Depot (2 pieces-just need one "High Quality piece" really Folding legs (can buy at home depot) or online Suited Poker Cloth (this rocks!!! cards slide and it will last) (pool table felt will bead up and deteriorate quicker) plastic cup holders (next table I make will have stainless/aluminum cup holders Stained the race track after these photos (really pulls out the wood grain) 1/4 closed cell foam under center 3/4 " closed cell foam under railing. Really..all of the details are on Junell's site... Don't think I'd change much anything of what he did. I didn't use 3 pieces of wood. I screwed the table legs into the bottom piece (the center felt). It saved money on wood and made it lighter. I have the table in 3 pieces: 1. Blue center suited poker cloth (oval sits in closet) 2. table base with folding legs leans on wall in garage 3. Padded railing and race track are screwed together (so cards don't slip between them) and hang on bike racks in the garage. Takes 5 minutes to set-up when we have a game. |

Re: My table-first post
Nice first post. You have been lucky to get nice responses here though. There are plenty of trolls. Adding pics to your first post certainly helps.
I also recently finished my first table loosely based on Junell's design. Camera phone pics suck. Welcome to the forum. |

Re: My table-first post
Befolder,
Thanks. I was looking at yours and it's really a slammin' table. Having one with the same general design, I know how rockin' yours is in real life. For Christmas, my wife bought me aluminum cup holders for the table. They were slightly smaller than the plastic ones already in the table. So..as any good husband and obsessive hack poker player would do, I'm gonna try and sell my table so I can build another one that fits the cup holders. That dark wood with that cloth and steel cup holders has to be real sharp. It would be great at some point to get a couple of high res pics. Just so everyone can see for real. Thanks again for the nice words. One post, no trolls. I think I like this place. |

Re: My table-first post
Just out of curiosity guys, as I'm looking to buy a table soon, and the ones with race tracks look REALLY good, as do both of yours:
How does it feel shuffling chips on the racetrack? My experience with shuffling on wood (not racetrack, just table/desk) is that it feels very strange on my finger tips, and it's also a lot louder. Any input on this? |

Re: My table-first post
horrible
Honestly, I don't think you'll do that. You'll grab a couple of chips and shuffle just on the felt. I don't think about it now, just do it. There are those trade offs. I like the cup holders. Usually have a decent amount of guys and drinks on the floor don't work well. (We're in the house) I also don't have room or want to make drink carts. It seems to work best for the drinks to be on the racetrack. IF...IF...IF... you spend the money on something like the suited poker cloth, spills won't be an issue. Guys have spilled drinks on it and it just beads up. It's really a pretty durable material (expensive though). It would be cool without the race track as well (feel much bigger table). Six/Half-dozen I'd say. No way was I going to be the cup holders into the vinyl/leather. Just too much time. |
