no, now i'm like 10x more confused. We are in position right? Flop is KK4 and we have 44. We bet and the BB calls. Turn K he checks, we check. River is a 4, he checks and you want to know if you should bet?

in that case raise the river. villain is bet/calling the board a lot of the time here, or he has a PP. a king is quite unlikley though he can certainly have it here. I call a 3bet.

Even I, the biggest nit would have insta-bet if he checked.

He'd been over-agressive with any bit post flop so the call smelt like a monster. Didn't stop me raising and calling the 3bet but I'm not sure it's good.

Pointless trivia; I've hit quad fours twice on the river today and not won either hand. This one I was drawing dead and the other one was a bad beat on someone else.

I definitely raise/call this, especially after your turn check (kinda like that though)

also technically you raised preflop and bet the flop so you are not ready to stab yourself in the face even if you do call the river.

I like the turn ck, given u did that theres more than enough value in the raise for the rare times u have to call a 3bet and enjoy the sweet kick to the nuts that is quads over quads
