Trump Classic PLO8 - rethinking a hand
I played in the PLO8 at the Trump Classic on Tuesday. Cashed in 17th place, so I have a happy ending anyway..... 144players entered.
I was at a table full of supertight players. We saw several rounds before an elimination. I ended up with the top stack at the table, but at break it was clear looking on other tables that we needed to pump up the action and get some chips in play. Well eventually we got our wish. Mr superaggressive with a big stack was moved to our table. He raised preflop 40-50% of hands. I decided to wait him out. We were still in midgame, about 70 left. I look down to AA57 double suited. He pops it as usual from EP. I'm the button, full table. Call or reraise? Can't recall blinds at the time, but they're getting to the point where pots are played for stacks pretty quickly. |

I'd gotta say repot. AA57 if tough to play after the flop if you just call.

Re: Trump Classic PLO8 - rethinking a hand
I think you gain alot here by jamming the pot.
You decided to "wait it out" and this is a great hand to come out firing with. See if his preflop decisions are sound when challenged by mixing it up with him. If he calls, you can see his postflop play as well and maybe try to get to a showdown to see what those raised hands meant. My guess is...you potted and he folded. Is that why your wondering if you played it right - because you thought maybe you lost some value there? |

Re: Trump Classic PLO8 - rethinking a hand
Opposite yomaha, I called. Then a player to my left I know from online, called too. So the flop was hit or forget. I came up with a gutshot str8, crappy low draw, and 2 flush cards that didn't match. He bet and I folded.
Next hand, I have AA27 and the same thing happens, this time I repot and he calls. I end up quartering him as a 2 and 3 are on board, and he has K high spades to my ace high. So results in mind, I like the plays - but of course, taken without results, I was weak on the AA57. 3 hands in that tournament I played imperfectly. That one, and twice when I raised preflop, forgetting that the BB would call anything for any price, and I could limp in and see a flop 90% of the time anyway. Otherwise, I never lost a hand, which is how I made it to the money in the toughest field I ever played. Hell of a tournament. |
