JJ vs. thac - NL$100
Decided to post this here instead of SSNL because I seem to get more responses here.
Villian is thac. I have him at 17/14 over about 450 hands, he seems to play fairly straight forward abc tag. Only history is a few small pots and then he stacked me when I got KQ all in on a J10x flop against his J10(lol whoops). No HH cuz I'm at work. Full Tilt Poker NL $100 effective stacks 100BB's 6players Hero is UTG+1 with J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, Hero raises to $3.50, CO folds, Button calls $3.50, SB folds, BB folds. Flop Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Pot: $8 Hero bets $7, Button calls $7 Turn: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero??? Right around $21 in the pot - bet fold, check call or check fold, and why? |

Re: JJ vs. thac - NL$100
I bet/fold. Checking gives him entirely too much opportunity to bluff you out of this pot or represent a hand. Even if you call you still won't narrow his range at all. I bet about $15 and fold to a raise. Check/call and check/fold both give him the go-ahead to take control of the hand. Try to get the information while the pot is still relatively small rather than playing passively and letting him value bet you to death.

Re: JJ vs. thac - NL$100
He can definitely bluff you here for sure. If you get called you know you are in trouble too. He is on the btn so his range is a little more wide open than normal for him.
you can c/c if you feel like gambling and he might shut down on the river if he has air. else you are going to be faced with another bet. If you bet and he calls you are equally screwed as you have 1 out to improve, and GL finding another bet for the river. Given this situation I feel this is a spot where it might be ok to give up? c/f |

Re: JJ vs. thac - NL$100
I probably c/f here just because at this point JJ is a bluff. If he has a queen, then we are hoping a turn bet will get him to fold that. Thats about the best case scenario. The other scenario is he has the diamonds and then we are really wasting money. If there was no overcard I would bet/fold this turn, but I can think of many better spots to double barrel than this board.

Re: JJ vs. thac - NL$100
I definitely c/f here. Not much we beat here that he'd call the flop with (except a smaller PP or something). I just let him have it and move on.

Re: JJ vs. thac - NL$100
so what you guys are saying is thac+float = dollars?
Or are we saying he's not capable of floating? Or it's not worth it to find out? |

Re: JJ vs. thac - NL$100
TBH, I dont think who this guy is, so I cant say whether he is capable of floating or not. Even if he is capable of doing that, there are better boards to exploit this on than this one is what Im trying to say. Its not worth finding out here because the times when he has a legitimate hand and you just double barreled for nothing probably outweigh the times you double barrel and he folds.
