10/20: QQ i rr pot, cr on K high
5 handed, 1020. Effective stacks: 2200. I make it 80 UTG with red QQ. Button, an agressive LAGish regular repops me to 260 from the button, blinds fold, and I call. Villain is 3betting me extremely light and gives prolly no credit to me opening UTG. We have a lot of history, and I have a clear impression that he really likes to "own" me, meaning vb me thin and bluff me biig. He earlier stacked me for 150BBs when I smoothcalled TT both preflop and on all streets of a board reading 985 (TT)-2-K, missing flushdraw, and he pushes double pot on the river with 888 (I tank and call river, obv.). Flop: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Pot is 500ish. I check, he bets 340 and I make it 900 straight. Thoughts? |

5 handed I would've re-raised villian preflop. It's the only point where you are going have an opportunity to take control of the hand since you're OOP against a LAG player.
Your in a world of hurt on the flop in my opinion. Your raise makes an 1800 pot with 400 to call for villian. If he was on a semi-bluff flush draw you just priced him in. If your willing to make that bet you should have pushed. From this point I c/f to any more resistance unless you hit your set. |

I like 4-betting pre-flop. I dont like the c/r on the flop, you just get better hands to call (I doubt youll get him to throw away any king) and the occasional flush draw 3-bet pushes you. It kinda puts you in a bad spot.

yea u got urself into a very bad spot by just calling preflop. We need to push, calling leaves us seeing an overcard on the flop alot and clueless how to approach the hand, work on your preflop play, if he plays back at u alot then u obviously need to push cuz ur way ahead of his range.

Seriously, I don't get why you get so hung up on the preflop play. 4 betting vs. 3betting is a longer discussion, and might be equally good in this spot. In this case, I chose to smoothcall, which was based on the dynamics going on in the game at that point. |

what's your plan if he pushes? either way I don't really like it, either 4bet preflop or c/c here
