Re: Favorite Pork Product

Bacon, Ribs are a close 2nd. [/ QUOTE ] If done right I like nothing more than ribs, but still [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] bacon. I remembered a poll about this and found it. Here. The question was whether you would give up pork or chicken if you could only have one for the rest of your life. I was stunned at the number that gave up pork. Very few items in the "chicken" column do I find nearly as tasty. I'd miss chicken wings but I would suck it up. |

Re: Favorite Pork Product
Taylor Ham is understood as "I want Talyor Pork Roll" and add the word "deluxe" and you magically get fries. Say the word "disco" and the fries magically are covered in brown gravy and mozzarella!!! F the haters Jersey RULES!!! (expect for car ins.)

Dom - hm, I always thought it was a regional name difference, but the same product. Wow - it is possible I've never even had Pork Roll! Will be at Farmer's Market Butcher this weekend, awesome thanks. -Al [/ QUOTE ] They are all the same thing, from the pork roll website: Taylor ham is the common name for pork roll, a food developed by John Taylor of Trenton, New Jersey, late in the 19th century. [ QUOTE ] Taylor is the brand name for pork roll made by Taylor Provisions, Inc., of Trenton. Taylor also manufactures pork roll under the Trenton brand. Trenton by Taylor has been an advertiser on the outfield wall at Mercer County Waterfront Park in Trenton since it opened in 1994. Other companies making pork roll include Kohler Provisions and Loeffler Gourmet. [/ QUOTE ] Also from the website: [ QUOTE ] What is the difference between Taylor Ham and Taylor Pork Roll? The proper name according to the manufacturer is, "John Taylor's Original Taylor Pork Roll, " but many of us in Jersey call it "Taylor Ham." Think of it as Kleenex is to tissues, Taylor Ham is to Pork Roll. According to Eric of Taylor Provisions, people use the two names interchangeably. We also asked him about Taystrips, and he said they have not been manufactured for many years and have no plans at this time to do so in the future. The name debate seems to be between North Jersey locals calling it Taylor Ham, and South Jersey and Philadelphians calling it "Pork Roll." [/ QUOTE ] pork roll is clearly the better name btw |
