Default 25nl Bottom set on turn.

$0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
LeggoPoker Hand History Converter

Villan is reasonably aggro in position (running 22/15/2(100ish hands at this stage)). Seems solid enough.

The only two unusual things in this hand was his absent cbet (which was close to 100% prior to this hand) and his pfr of 0.85 was less than his seemingly standard 1.00.

UTG: $24.75
CO: $25
BTN: $49.22
SB: $25.55
Hero (BB): $29.42

Pre-Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BB)
2 folds, BTN raises to $0.85, SB folds, Hero calls $0.60

Flop: ($1.80) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($1.80) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $1.20, BTN calls $1.20

River: ($4.20) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $2, BTN raises to $12, Hero????

I feel like my turn bet could have been a little larger.

Any problems with calling this river raise?

Yeah, I bet a little harder on the turn and river. Calling river, though, is absolute spew: That's basically the worst card in the deck for you and a seemingly solid player just overbet.

On rereading the hand, it is weird that villain would have played a flush draw on the flop this way, which makes a bluff a ton more likely. This is closer than I first thought. I still fold, though, if my read is that villain is a solid player and doesn't get too out of line.

Villain is raising a really wide range here PF, I don't think checking a flop with a flush draw that has been checked to him is out of the question (he could opt to check some low suited connectors), but it is really hard ot place him on a hand here. This would be very read dependant I think, and also would greatly depend on how you've been playing lately, (i.e. would he have a reason to try and put you back in line here)

with no other information, I think I grumble and fold... maybe make a short note to look out for this type of play in the future

I agree that river card really sucks for me.

However, villan's uncharacteristic bet sizing / lack of cbet suggested to me that he had a pretty premium hand going into the turn.

This made me think that a straight was less likely than a poorly played premium pair... maybe AKs.

Playing well (I think) I could fold this river without strong suspicions but my feeling was that I was ahead here.

Still spewey call? Do you people act on feeling in these situations?

This is an easy fold. He has the flush or KK every time.

Lets figure out what we beat.

He is almost never bluffing here. First of all, why would he want to bet $12 to win only $6...that doesn't make a lot of sense that bet is most likely for value. Also, if he wanted to bluff, why didn't he just cbet and take the pot down there? A lot cheaper.

We only beat 2pair and 1pair hands now.
I can't really put him on a king...why would he check the flop, slowplay the turn, and then go crazy on the river when a scare card hits. If he had a king he would be looking for value on the flop and a cheaper showdown at the river.

Villan is fairly tight preflop and even if he opens up his range a lot on the BTN I have trouble putting him on a lot a 2pair combo. The only one that really fits this line is 67 and even that is unlikely.

This is an easy fold for me due to the large raise.
