Default Hold-em on television.. enough already?

Anyone else getting sick of the amount of NL Holdem on television. Can we try a new game for once or mixed games? Seems like that would generate more action for other games across the land rather than just NL holdem?

I like playing a good mix of games, but NLHE is by far the best TV game since it actually generates drama and tough decisions, and is easily understood by the viewer (Pot-Limit Hold-em is good as well, followed by Pot-Limit Omaha.)

Hi-Lo games are difficult to understand and keep track of, and Limit games just don't create the suspense of the big bluff or all-in decision.

Did you ever watch the 7-card stud tournaments on ESPN in 2004 and 2005? The "big hands" were mostly just bet-call, bet-call, bet-call to the river with one player just waiting to see if he could draw out.

Hold'Em makes the most sense because so many more people know how to play this game as compared to the others...also, the NL feature is much more exciting than the constraints of other games...

Seems like no one ever went broke by dumbing down the TV viewing experience.

I think there's just too much poker on TV. Well, too many poker shows, most of them short on poker. If you want yet another poker show but not hold'em, I think the best bet would be something like a Big Game version of HSP, though to hold the average viewer's interest it'd have to be about the vast sums and personalities involved, and not so much about the cards.

You don't have to watch hold em' on TV if you don't want to. Turn the channel and stop complaining.

Seriously, not enough people would watch the mixed games - why do you think ESPN made the 50K HORSE FT No-Limit HE only when the entire rest of the tournament was limit. No one will watch the mixed games, my friend.

I'd like to see some pineapple and crazy pineapple. Even Greek Hold'em, where you must play both of your 2 hole cards.

I'd also like to see a new show, that I'd call Bad Beat Poker, where anyone who loses as a 3 to 1 or greater favorite, can decide which ridiculous costume the winner of that hand must wear for the rest of the show. How about Mike Matusow wearing a Wonder Woman costume and Phill Hellmuth wearing a diaper and blue baby bonnet, while sucking on a pacifier. The late night version would feature only women, wearing weird and revealing outfits until they put a bad beat on someone else. Sounds like something the Fox network might try. I'd love to see Omaha Hi-Lo on TV. The problem is, it would take forever to explain to viewers how to read the hands. I just don't think it would get the ratings needed.
