Pokey --- You forgot to mention that straddling is a great way to loosen up the table and tick off the two nits sitting on your immediate right. It also creates a gamblooor image.

[/ QUOTE ]

Straddling is just plain fun.

4_2_it is much more intelligent about his opening the table up and playing some loose holding OOP than I am with my dark raises and calls.

i keep getting a reputation as being 'very tight' even though i'm running at around 25/15 at FR PL games. it really annoys me... yet they still call my pot sized bets?

[/ QUOTE ]

Explain how this is in any way annoying? I LOVE this. I don't have to worry about shania or anything. No tough decisions. Just bet, bet, bet, with big hands and draws.

Everyone says I'm a total tight-ass rock at my local home live game, but rest assured whenever people fold because "Oh, it's YOU, so I fold", they aren't really actually folding, like, a PAIR or anything.

Biggest thing:

ITS NOT 6 MAX. ITS FULL RING. THIS REQUIRES AN ADJUSTMENT. I personally will go into the card room later at night to try and find just about ANY game that is SH vs. Full. Limit, NL, hell, even Omahahahaha.

[/ QUOTE ]

It depends on the table. There are very passive tables where I run about 40/20. And I do a ton of limping in EP with stuff that I would not even limp with in 6-max online, much less FR.

This is because it is not nearly as hard to play draws OOP live, because most players SUCK at using position to make it hard for you, and most players offer redonkulous implied odds, and most players are completely incapable of reading your hand, so they pay off even the most obvious made draws.

I'd rather have my nipples twisted by burning hot scissor-rods and wear barbwire around my waist all day than play live poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Really? Live poker for me is >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>> than online poker. Hourly rates take a hit though. Not being able to Multitable is a bitch. I wonder if the casino would let me pull up a chair between tables and play both at the same time?

[/ QUOTE ]

Precisely my point. I normally 12 table. This doesnt mean I play 12x the hands per hour, it means I play abot 36x the hands per hour online. So basically, playing live cuts my winrate down to 1/36th of my online potential (actually more like 25 or so because winrate shoots up etc, but STILL).

yeah.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is at least somewhat mitigated by the stakes. If you beat NL200 online, you can beat NL1000 live. I recently just learned this myself, and it's a blast

And it isn't even that -EV immediately if you can get others at the table to go along and do it as well.

Live poker means that you can go a whole day and not win a single hand. Have fun.

Sadly, this is true sometimes. I still enjoy live play a lot...

What annoys me is the guy at the table who won't shut up....jabberring incessantly about anything and everything. Gives me a headache.

Also, I much prefer playing with/against women. They seem more "thoughtful" about their games and not dominated by ego/testosterone. Small sample size, admittedly..
