Re: *****The Official 2007 J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS THREAD******
[ QUOTE ]
My very-preliminary-not-very-informed thought is that Chris Long is the best fit for the Jets and I don't think he's a #1 pick and I don't think we'd need to take him at #1. [/ QUOTE ] And brett is just retelling the story of the Texans of a few years ago. It's such a similar situation. Remember, each team takes each pick and gives it a point value, and each team has a different point value for each pick. So they have to match up "points" to make a deal. That was something that HOU could not do no matter how hard they tried. They got stuck in a situation that they could not fix and were forced to take their #1 player on their board which happened to be Mario Williams. The Jets could find themselves in the same situation this year. |

But please don't think that trading down and stockpiling picks is easy, or even possible. Its very unlikely, esp. in a year where these is no Peyton Manning/Mike Vick types set to come out, ie, top shelf ultra blue chip QBs. [/ QUOTE ] Yah, last year & mosts years there are way more teams looking to trade down than up. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't want to derail this thread to much but this year's draft actually has that possibility to have teams wanting to trade up due to 3 legit QB's. But the trades most likely will be around the 10-15 area and not in the top 10 unless a team feels they desperately need that player or the Vikings are going to take them. |

Re: *****The Official 2007 J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS THREAD******
Mangini has such an out of control (yet-to-be-deserved) ego that we might actually package late round picks with the #1 to move down. That would be sick, and funny, and maybe even +EV.

i think tennenbaum, or at least the poeple that work with him, have had good drafts for the most part, hopefully they can get the job done again...

The October draft discussion is a long standing Jets tradition.

Re: *****The Official 2007 J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS THREAD******
it is kinda funny how every jets season in recent memory has been a complete hit or miss, either making the playoffs/good overall seasons or no more then 6 wins maximum. Also even more bizarre how there is no consistency, each winning season seems to be immediately followed by a terrible year
