Default Buying watch: jewelry store vs amazon

I recently decided that I really like this kind of watch by TAG Heuer

so I looked up the prices online as well as scouted out a few local jewelry stores. The consensus among the stores was that they could only drop the price from 2.3k to 2,050 at the very most. Amazon.com, however, lists the watch for 1.5k. However, after calling TAG Heuer, the rep told be that no online retailers, even an establishment as large and reputable as amazon.com, are considered to be authorized retailers of TAG Heuer products. However, if the product you purchase is indeed authentic (all of the parts and gears inside) then they will still service it as if you bought from an authorized retailer but lost the receipt/warranty card. So, I'm caught in a tough decision. Has anyone experienced similar issues regarding purchases on watches/jewelry?

Fwiw, the watch listed on amazon is sold and shipped directly by Amazon.com and not by one of the 3rd party merchants that list on the site.

Where do you buy the watch OOT?

I'd check out the TAG forum at Time Zone amd do a search to see if someone recommends a specific dealer.

I did this for an Omega and found a dealer whose standard "internet discount" was very close to what I could get it for from somewhere like Amazon. Still got all the advantages of buying from an authorized dealer which came in handy when I had to send it in for a repair.

TAGs are at least as common as Omegas. I'd be surprised if you couldn't find someone on TimeZone who could point you to an authorized dealer who'll get you close to an Amazon price.

i'm not sure how it works with TAG but breitling doesn't authorize online dealers so you dont get the warranties and authenticity certificates etc... might want to check that out
