I know that other countries have far longer army-time, like Russia, which IIRC is 2 years with only a few holidays.
I'm not bitching about any physical activity, I'm crying about lost time. Sure it's only a year tops but still.

Shut up, the quality of Finnish military training more than makes up for the short time. After two months or so of basic fighter training which includes some semi-hard physical exercise, activities basically consist of sleeping all day, eating doughnuts and watching porn.

The min in the signal corps used to be 330 days. I found out about it at the first day of service. Not a good way to start "oh, btw you'll be spending here 90 more days that you had thought"
