Default 10nl, 6max: J9s pre flop raise; too loose?

Titan No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05/$0.10BB (Titan HH Converter by Kreatief)

Button ($4.74)
SB ($11.15)
BB ($2.47)
MP3 ($11.75) (Hero)
CO ($13.99)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
<font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to 0.4</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, SB calls $0.35, <font color="#666666">1 folds</font>,

Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ( $0.9 )
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $0.70</font>, SB calls $0.70,

Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ( $2.3 )
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $2.00</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises to 5.0</font>, Hero...

Now I think that my pre flop play is way too loose. But I hit my top pair (not very high, but still, this is a to pair). I guess it is not the hand I want to go all in with?

Villain is 40/0/0.8.

Raise this on the button or CO if the button is tight. I tighten up bigtime in early position as these hands lose value when played OOP.

Why is it wrong to fire again on the turn? I understand he's got to fold when he is reraised of course.

preflop is OK, it depends a lot on how tight you think the two guys are behind you and how often they'll call your pf raises. Also if they do call the pfr how often do they call a flop CB? If it's often then don't raise this preflop, if it's rarely raise all day and inbetween the two use some judgement.

flop is OK.

I bet a little less on the turn I think ~$1.70 is goot.
Once he raises you, turbo fold. He has an overpair or a set here or maybe 56 for 2pairs - your TP is toast.

We want to charge the fd's on the turn - we want to give him the chance to fold - we want to keep the pot small and we want him to tip off his hand to us. If we check behind on the turn we keep the pot small but we gain no useful info and might be faced with a river bet that is because he thinks we are weak rather than cos he has a hand. Putting us to a tougher decision - especially if a flush hits.

Thank for your answers, there were all very useful. Especially mentioning the "Baluga theorem" and a post by matrix.
