Default Re: 25NL - Folding trip aces on flop?

i agree with this, although i do 3 bet pretty light depending on position to keep pots heads up and steal them on the flop. but as played preflop how can hero check fold this flop? what flop was he hoping to hit? this is more likely QQ KK or JJ running through trips. TT is to narrow and the case A with a better kicker is unlikely.

Can someone explain to me why one would fold AJs in the SB?

[/ QUOTE ]

Which reason do you want?
1. UTG raised
2. It was re-raised
3. You might not be heads up
4. You're out of position

UTG raise and a reraise. You will be playing a large pot with a very marginal hand against their ranges. You will lose alot of cash when you flop top pair, and bleed a good portion of chips when you miss everything.

Even on very good flops like this where you flop trips, there is a very real possibility that you do not have the best hand.

AJ should be mucked OOP against a raise and reraise as at most tables. IMO

We don't like calling a raise out of the blinds with a hand that contains a J.

fold pre for sure... the only hand i'd cold call here is OCCASIONALLY AA if i had a read. as played the flop fold is very good.

[/ QUOTE ]
Occasionally AA? Sorry to go off topic a bit but I though you should be trying to get all in PF with AA pretty much in any situation?

I think if you're gonna call PF, which IMO you shouldn't, you really have to felt this flop. Its probably close, but I think the fact that you're thinkig you're probably behind on this flop is a pretty clear indication you should have folded PF.

(fold pre)

With that said, I would give utg JJ-KK 80% of the time TT 10% of the time and some flush draw 10% of the time.

Btn 3b pf. If he does have an ace he can't just flat call the bet. It will give his hand away and utg will shut down. He has an >AJ at least 80% of the time.

If he doesn't have an ace, he knows he has no folding equity and is a dog.

Trips is a nice hand but not this time.

Fold and fist pump.

If you make a mistake why make two?

The money in the pot is no longer yours. Don't chase bad money with good money.
