Ansky, how many bbs would you need to call here, or just to set mine in general oop vs a good player?

Just echoing that this is awful.

I think preflop is fine, but I dunno.. if mlagoo and ansky disagree I'm probably wrong.

Flop is really bad. This isn't like a Q83 board where he's gonna be c-betting light into two players.

[/ QUOTE ]

i think pf is classic spew, that seems like everyone does.

ya know that "5-10" rule? It's [censored].

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah.. I'm not stupid enough to follow the 5-10 rule.

But here we've got 14.5x the preflop raise, he opened UTG at a 9-handed table, we have position, and it's a tournament so I really doubt he folds an overpair like ever.

overpair to the board? or like 66+???

cause you know, he folds 99, TT, JJ, QQ even, on a ton of boards.

i'd much rather like this if it were at the ante stage when people actually do open up their range a lot harder from EP.

Yea, i dunno really why i got involved here. I knew that calling pf i couldnt just rely on just flopping a set, so i was like "ok, i'm gonna look for weakness and pounce!" Then i thought calling the flop would let me see what happens on the turn, and as i said earlier i thoguht me calling off that size of my stack would be 'scary'. but yea, i cant count on him folding JJ, and if he has AK then i can just check behind and fold to a A/K river.

Anyway, i didnt think the spot was good, i just know that my standard game hasn't gotten me fantastic results (i'm like a 30% roi combining all my sites/live -- edit: but my late game is probably where i have my bigger leaks- should focus on that) and i have more volume than most. So, yea. just trying new things to see what i'm not doing.

PF/flop has been covered I think, nothing new to say here.

the turn is bad too though and nobody has said why. it's because there's an overcall and Pen doesn't suck at poker. after that overcall he probably checks 90% of his range on the turn regardless, other than, like, top set. so when you shove, there's a very high chance the result (whenever you're not drawing dead to SB) is 'sweet, not a set after all, I call.'

I agree preflop is marginal and that Ray may be a little bit too short-stacked to call here, but I don't really think it's awful or spew, as Ansky makes it out to be. If the blinds are bad, and you can expect at least one of them to call preflop, and will lose a lot of chips when you flop a set, it's alright IMO. Those are a lot of conditions that need to be met, but, um, they might apply.

Anyway, I turbomuck the flop. I don't think #1PEN is c-betting really light into two people, and floating when there are still people left to act seems unneccesarily dangerous and unlikely to work.

Agree, don't like any line. You're not deep enough to be calling preflop and you can't continue on this flop with a person to act behind you.
