Default Numerous Decks of Cards - Need Storage advice

Question for you all, Mods, if this is in the wrong forum, my apologies, please move/delete if necessary.

My friends and I started playing poker in a home game here recently, and I have started to accumulate a lot of decks of cards. I guess you could say I've started a collection. The only problem is.. that I have about 30-40 complete decks of playing cards, and about 25 of them have no box to store them in. Are you guys aware of a cheap but safe container to store the decks in? I was looking but all I could find was wooden containers that hold 2 decks for 20 bucks each. That is unfortunatley a bit pricey. Any suggestions on what to look for and where?

Thanks so much

You can dodge the matter entirely and save a ton of storage space by getting two or three two-deck setups of KEM or Copag plastic cards. In a single-table home game, each setup should last for months. I used to find paper cards showing significant wear in my home game after just three weeks.

The Home Poker forum here on 2p2 has hosted several debates on which brand of plastic cards is superior, if you want to compare their virtues.

Lol, for us it is three shuffles.

My hands can't stand to even touch paper cards anymore.

I'm with the others. Just throw them away and buy some Kems or Copags.

Thanks for the replys.

I do have 4 Kems/Copags decks, and they are in thier respective boxes. I will just simply rubberband them, as that seems to work. The other decks are more just collections from casinos, or a specialty deck that a friend saw and picked up for me type thing. Rubber Bands/shoebox seem to be the leading candidate.

Thanks for the input guys.

I would recommend index card holders, with dividers between each deck. You should be able to find these at an office supply store in many different sizes.

VERY good answer, Nick, if the OP is planning on holding onto the decks without wanting to display them.

The lid would have to be decently snug to the card edges on top, to prevent the half-empty boxes from mixing cards if they fell. Other than that, I can't immediately see a problem with your suggestion.
