Yeah and it's not even close. Why would you just call?

That's what I asked myself about 5 seconds after I just called. It's been bugging me - I was wondering if there is any possible justification for the way I played it. I need to raise to get 6th seat out of the hand, maximize my value from seat 7 who is probably staying in no matter what. Seat 3 I am little concerned about but probably shouldn't be because they probably would have raised here.

Anyways - 6th and 7th went like this:

b]5th Street - (10.93 BB)

Seat 3: xx xx 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls

Seat 6: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___calls

You played sixth and seventh very well.

Fifth is a cake raise. Basically, everyone has a four-card hand. It is extremely unlikely that anyone's King or pair card is going to figure in a winning hand. You have the best four-card hand. Act accordingly.

I think it was all the butt clenching.

I think 5th is a prime example of me needing to sit back and think things through a little more when I'm playing. I didn't instacall but it was pretty fast

I've had this basic hand happen about 10 times tonight. I've lost every single one of them, but I still keep raising 5th in spots like this. It evens out over time but man it sucks when it doesn't come through for you.

nh sir

I play better live than I do online. One reason is that live games move more slowly, and I'm a slow, plodding thinker. I think that's also the primary reason that I post better than I play.
