Default Star Trek Being Remade by J.J. Abrams

Leonard Nimoy as old Spock, dude who played Sylar on Heroes as young Spock

Also mentions that Shatner will be in this, but no details on who is playing young Kirk.

I'm not a huge Star Trek fan (I do think Wrath of Khan was one of the best sci-fi/action movies ever made, though), but this seems to be an awful idea.

Do we care what JJ Abrams does just because of Lost? Nothing else on his imdb is really that impressive: some Felicity, some Alias, a writing credit on MI3...

It seems like everyone is really pumped for the "Cloverleaf" thing in part because "OMG its JJ Abrams!" but where is that coming from?

I originally heard Matt Damon for Kirk, but apparently that was a rumor.

I think the people who say that were big Alias fans. I never watched it.
I like Lost and MI3 quite a bit, so I give him some credit but I don't consider him a slam dunk.

Love Star Trek, not sure how into this i am yet, but Adam Kaufman looks like a young Spock. I have some hopes for it, but ill wait to hear full casting and something on the story.

The Wrath of Khan is easily the best of the Star Trek movies and, as you said, one of the great science fiction/action movies of all time. As for this being an awful idea, I can't agree. I am all for anything that brings that old crew back together for one last hurrah. I am especially looking forward to seeing Nimoy's Spock, again. Spock rocks so much.

I just hope this project gets handled with class and not mangled. The last two Star Trek series make me ill.

The last two seasons of Enterprise were a vast improvement and were actually quite good. The final episode was horrible, but other then that, its certainly worth checking out.

Space - sure Shatner and Nimoy are around, but McCoy, Scotty, and Sulu are currently in the ground, somewhere around Venus, and out of the closet, respectively.
